Sabatini - At the 1990 US Open, Sabatini upset Steffi for the title. Sabatini was also a finalist at the 1988 US Open and 1991 Wimbledon. However, in both matches, Steffi dispatched Sabatini in 3 sets. Conchita Martinez - Conchita beat Martina Navratilova to capture the 1994 Wimbledon crown. Conchita was also a finalist at the 1998 Austrailian Open and the 2000 French Open. Jana Novotna - Jana got her slam title at 1998 Wimbledon, beating Nathalie Tauziat in the final. This eased the pain of Jana losing to Steffi in the '93 Wimbledon final. In 1993, Jana had Steffi on the ropes, but couldn't put Steffi away. Kim Clijsters - Kimmie won the 2005 US Open, beating Mary Pierce in the final. In 3 previous slam finals, Kim had suffered setbacks at the hands of Justine Henin. Nice to see Kimmie get over the hump.
